Alu 02 by ZOWA

ALU 02 extends the logic of the ALU series into a more mobile, inhabitable form. Neither strictly furniture nor purely storage, it operates in the space between: a stool, a low cabinet, a compact trolley. Its scale invites use, but its form resists prescription.

The object is defined by how it is made rather than what it claims to be. Sheets of raw aluminum are bent into structure, creating permanent connections without screws, welds, or applied fixings. This method, folding as bond, is the constant that unifies the ALU series, giving each piece its structural clarity and visual restraint.

A single front door provides access to the interior, secured through a spring-loaded ball pin that holds the plane flush while remaining unobtrusive. The mechanism is functional but discreet, integrated rather than emphasized. Small casters lift the volume slightly from the ground, introducing movement without visual lightness.

The aluminum surface is left untreated. Scratches, tonal shifts, and minor irregularities remain visible, not as defects but as evidence of material and handling. Over time, ALU 02 accumulates marks that situate it within use rather than perfection: an object that accepts contact, weight, and change without alteration to its essential form.
